Plans for new homes and public open space in Withington to go on show

Preliminary plans to develop land north of the A4103, Withington, with high-quality new homes and public open space are to be unveiled by award-winning house builder David Wilson Homes at a forthcoming public exhibition. The exhibition will be held at:

Withington Village Hall, Coppice Close, Withington, Hereford, Herefordshire, HR1 3PP

On Friday 12 December 2014 between 4pm and 7.30pm

David Wilson Homes has invited over 500 surrounding properties and local County Council and Parish Councillors, to attend the public exhibition. The proposals are still at a preliminary stage and no planning application has yet been submitted.

The purpose of the exhibition is to gain feedback from the local community prior to the plans being progressed further. Members of the project team will also be in attendance to talk through the proposals and answer queries.

Initial plans consider that the site, which is located to the north of the A4103 and to the south of existing housing at Southbank, opposite Orchard House, could accommodate approximately 80 new homes.

The plans would provide much-needed affordable housing, which would contribute towards Hereford Council’s current shortfall in its housing supply.

The proposal site was previously considered for potential new housing in the Hereford Council’s ‘Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment’ (SHLAA). The Council’s Core Strategy also identifies Withington for some additional housing growth.

Marianne Horton, Planning Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, commented:

“We hope that local people will be able to attend our consultation event. Hosting a public exhibition whilst the plans are at this early stage provides the opportunity for the community to give us their feedback, which will be fully considered and, where possible, incorporated into the plans as they are progressed”

She added: “Local feedback is extremely important. Residents unable to attend the exhibition but who require further information can call our freephone information line on – 0800 298 7040 – or view and comment on the preliminary plan via the project’s dedicated website” – www.consultation-online.co.uk/withington
